David Luo graduated from Beijing Institute of Technology with a master's degree in vehicle engineering in 1998. His major relates to both mechanics and electronics. After four years' working in a publishing house as a tech-editor, David joined DEQI Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd. in 2002.

 

At DEQI, David built up his patent agent career from drafting domestic applications. With great passion and hard work, he passed the Chinese patent bar the same year he joined the company. Afterward, he also engaged in applications from China to overseas and vice versa, including drafting new applications, translating, and responding Office Actions. In 2005, David established and led the Incoming Patent Department, and later led the Outcoming Patent Department in 2006. David became the deputy general manager of DEQI in 2008. He was responsible for the quality control of the patent affairs and management of important clients.

 

In DEQI, David engaged in a huge amount of domestic and outgoing (especially the US) patent-related work, including patent mining, drafting new applications, responding Office Actions, re-examination, invalidation, administrative litigation, and patent search. David’s major domestic clients include Huawei, Tencent, and Lenovo, covering telecommunications, Internet, and computer technologies.

 

After leaving DEQI in 2012, David embarked on his new journey. Not long after he got to the U.S., he passed the US Patent Bar and became a registered patent agent in the United States. 

 

In recent years, with the development of intellectual property in China, more and more Chinese applicants hope to get their inventions and designs protected in the United States. However, the complicated patent system and high prices in the United States have deterred many Chinese applicants. Under such circumstances, David founded the Westbridge IP LLC in the hope of helping Chinese clients to apply for patents in the United States conveniently and economically.
